WHY HIRE A JUNK REMOVER?
Moving items and loading the truck. One of the biggest benefits of hiring a junk remover is that someone else does all the heavy lifting. The junk removal team will gather everything from around the house and get it all onto the truck.
Sorting, recycling, selling, and donating. Sorting and organizing things you need to get rid of is a lot of work. Professional junk removers haul everything away and do the sorting and recycling elsewhere.
WHAT CAN’T BE HAULED
Junk removers will take almost anything, but there are some restrictions. Most companies can’t haul hazardous materials, like oil-based paint, car batteries, or pesticides. For those types of items, contact your county’s solid waste department.
THE COST OF REMOVAL
Most junk removal companies prefer to give estimates on-site. By seeing in person everything that needs to be removed, the crew can give you a more accurate estimate. There are several factors that can affect the job’s cost. You might pay more if the crew will need to travel a long way or haul items that are especially heavy or hard to reach. There could also be extra fees for multiple trips or a bigger crew than normal. If any of the items need to be taken to a landfill or recycling center that charges fees, you’ll likely be charged for that, too.
THE JUNK REMOVAL PROCESS
The removal. Many contractors will come ready to do the job the day they give the estimate. If you need them to come back on a different day, plan to be present. The crew will need you to confirm what needs to be removed and give them access to storage areas or sheds. The removal team will do the work of retrieving and moving everything into the truck. For safety reasons, you should not take part in the moving process.
The final cleanup. Almost all junk removal contractors will sweep up the cleared area as part of their services.
DUMPSTER RENTAL SERVICES
Some junk removal companies also offer dumpster rental services. Renting a dumpster is a cost-effective choice for DIY home renovation projects or major house and yard cleanup jobs. When you rent a dumpster, the company will bring the receptacle to your house and pick it up when you’re ready. Most residential rental dumpsters are 12-cubic-yard dumpsters. This is smaller than the standard commercial size, but still plenty large enough for most home projects.
